The governorate of Hadramaut is located on the Arabian Sea coast, between longitudes 45 to 56 east of Greenwich and between latitudes 13 to 19 north of the equator. Hadramaut is 794 kilometers far away from the capital, Sana'a.
Hadramaut Governorate is the largest governorate in the Republic of Yemen, with an area of about 190,000 km2.
The population of Hadramaut governorate, according to the results of the 2004 census, reached (1,028,556) people, with a population annual growth of (3.08%).

There are many archaeological and historical monuments in the governorate, the most prominent are: Al-Ghuweizi Fort, the Sultan Fort, Sultan Al-Kathiri Palace, the Tomb of the Prophet Hood, the Fort of Jura, the tomb of the Prophet Saleh, the temple of That Hamim, and the temple of the moon.
The climate of the Hadramawt region is diverse. While the coastal climate prevails in the coastal parts, which is often hot in summer and moderate in winter, there is a moderate climate in the mountainous parts in summer and cold in winter. As for the desert parts, it is dominated by a desert climate, which is hot and dry throughout the year.
